What you can do with Hash tag albums!

Hash tag albums are the perfect tool to keep your photo feed organized.  In addition, you can share sub-sets of your photo feed or find out what already has been published about your favorite topic.

We would like to take this opportunity to explain what a hash tag is, how you can add a hash tag to your photos and how you can create and share a new album with your friends and family.

What is a hash tag?

A hash tag is a combination of the hash symbol (#) followed by a word which is attached to a photo.  For example:  #animals.  Please note that you cannot use spaces.  Only letters and figures are allowed.

How do I add a hash tag to a photo?

In instagram there are two ways to add a hash tag to a photo:

1.     You may add the hash tag while you upload your photo in instagram.  Once you select the photo, you must decide whether or not you will use a filter.  After that a screen will appear allowing you to add a caption.  It is in this frame where you can add your hash tags. Each hash tag must start with #.  Hash tags are separated automatically by using a space.  For example:  #dog #animal #pet . These three hash tags make it possible for your picture to appear each time one of the three tags has been used.

2.     The second method is by adding a hash tag as a comment to your own photo.  The process is simple as the only thing you have to do is to type one or multiple hash tags in your comment box and post the message. Note that this works only for your own photos.  You cannot add hash tags to other’s photos.

How do I create a hash tag album?

To create a hash tag album, click the album button in the navigation bar.  Anyone is able to create a hash tag whether you have an account or not. This is due to the fact that you do not need to login to access this function.  After clicking the album button a light box will appear where you can either select one of the listed albums or you create your own. To create your own album you must type a word consisting of letters and figures and without any spaces.  It is not necessary to type the # symbol first.  The next step is to click on the Create button and your own hash tag album will appear on the screen.                                                                       Please note that if you are logged in and are the first to publish this hash tag album it will be published in your name. If you are not logged in the screen will show that a guest has created the album.

How do I share a hash tag album?

To share a hash tag album you first need to create the album you would like to share. The next step is to click on the Album button and get to the hash tag management console.  There you will find the link for that specific hash tag album.  Below the link you will find different share options. You can share your new album via Twitter, Facebook or one of the many other sites available when you click on the “+” button.  Once you select the platform you would like to use for sharing, log into your account and share your album with friends, family and the entire Inkstagram community.

Some Extra Tips

Tip 1: If you would like to make sure your hash tag will not be easily used by others, we advise you to create a hash tag using both letters and figures. An example would be “inkanimals01”.

Tip 2: If you like to be included in a hash tag album that has already been published, you will first have to find out what hash tag is being used in the album you would like to be part of. Next you will need to add that specific hash tag when you upload your photo or add it as a comment to one of your previously uploaded photos.
